Recap: Streetbird Opening Party Featuring Qkr! With MasterPass

By Marcus Samuelsson | April 17, 2015

I had an awesome time at the Streetbird opening party last night! It was really amazing to have all my friends come out and see what I’ve been working so hard to put together. And of course, there was lots of delicious chicken.

Aside from celebrating the official opening of Streetbird Rotisserie, we were also helping MasterCard announce a brand new app that lets you order takeout and pay right from your phone: Qkr! with MasterPass. Part of my goal with Streetbird is to make good food accessible, and partnering with Qkr! makes that job even easier. As of last night, Streetbird is the first restaurant in the world to start using the app.

Thanks so much to everyone who made the night a huge success. If you haven’t had a chance to try Streetbird yet, I hope to see you in there soon, and don’t forget to download Qkr! here.

Recap: The Taste Finale Viewing Party

By Marcus Samuelsson | January 23, 2015

I had a great time last night at The Taste Finale Viewing Party at Ginny’s Supper Club. I couldn’t be prouder of Team Marcus for bringing their passion and determination to the competition and taking home the win.

Last night, I got to cook for the party with Gabe and Tristan from Team Marcus. In keeping with the theme of the night, we prepared a few different “tastes” of our own like Tristen’s Duck Meatball and Citrus-Cured Hamachi. I’m definitely looking forward to having Tristen as a part of the Red Rooster team.

Congratulations to Gabe, and all the other chef-testants – it was an incredible season.

On Wednesday night, the Harlem community and beyond joined together to raise up our neighbors who had suffered the terrible explosion at E 116th and Park Ave. weeks ago. Through ticket sales, raffles, and auctions, we were able to raise over $50,000 to support the efforts of the American Red Cross of Greater New York in aiding the survivors. And those who could not give money gave their time, effort, and goodwill, all of which made the benefit a truly a night to remember.

Salon Series: Hanging with Hilton in Harlem

Last night was the second installation of Ginny’s Salon Series, featuring writer and critic Hilton Als. The White Girls author chose ten notable books to discuss over dinner, and the reading list included works such as Drown, Tar Baby, and Brown Girl, Brownstones. It was this last book that was Als’s mother’s favorite—he recalls, “The only way my mother got peace was to lock herself in the bathroom and read.”—and was also one of the books that first revealed Als’s own passion for literature and his deep need to express it.

Harlem Hosts Houston for a Chef Battle

By Jeannette Park | October 17, 2013

Chefs

When a night includes six stellar chefs, a MacArthur Fellow jazz pianist, and a marrow bone used as a salt shaker, it’s an event you won’t soon forget. And that’s exactly what happened on Ginny’s on Wednesday evening. With the generous support of the Houston CVB, Seth Siegel-Gardner and Terrence Gallivan of Houston’s The Pass & Provisions took to our kitchens and created a showdown of flavors in a battle of Houston versus Harlem. As Election Results Come In, a Party Arises at Ginny’s

By Jeannette Park | November 7, 2012

Election Party 2012

Whether you voted Red or Blue, the scene at Ginny’s Supper Club last night was pure adrenaline and emotion. Guests snacked on dishes from a special Election menu –Wisconsin Cheddar and Mac with maple glazed bacon, the Obama Dog Chicago Style and a Red Hen dish (our Election night version of Fried Yard Bird) were the big winners of the night–and sipped Obama and Romney-themed cocktails. As the ballots were counted and the electoral votes added up, the night was all about exercising our right to vote and celebrating the best way we know how. Read More
