Come watch Meta and the diverse members of the Cornerstones perform in English, French, Wolof, and Fulani on July 25th at Ginny’s Supper Club. A Gospel Gathering at Ginny’s Every Sunday

Gospel Teen Choir

Join Marcus Samuelsson and the Vy Higginsen’s Gospel for Teens Choir for a special weekly Gospel Brunch every Sunday at Ginny’s Supper Club downstairs from Red Rooster Harlem. Vy Higginsen’s Gospel for Teens Choir is a nationally recognized and award-winning ensemble comprised of young performers who were featured on “60 Minutes” in 2011. The choir emerged from Gospel for Teens, a program of Ms. Higginsen’s Mama Foundation and her School of Gospel, Jazz and R&B Arts.

The choir will perform three sets of rousing gospel tunes during Ginny’s Sunday buffet brunch served between 11am and 3:30pm. Brunch is $35 per person (half off for children under 12) and will include popular menu items like the Fried Yard Bird and Mac-and-Greens. Those with a sweet tooth can relish the dessert buffet that follows. Beverages, gratuity, and tax not included.

Ginny’s Supper Club is pleased to present the world premiere of GRAMMY award winners Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra’s brand new suite, The Offense of the Drum, on June 19th with two sets at 8pm and 10:30pm. Complementing the program will be a special exhibition of artwork by Tony Peralta, presented by El Museo del Barrio, located in East Harlem. Adding to the evening’s excitement will be a special menu created by Chef Marcus—the Afro-Cuban dishes, complete with signature cocktail pairings, will create a multi-sensory celebration paying homage to the profound impact of Latino culture on Harlem and bring together the best of East and West Harlem culture and cuisine.

The legendary producer and DJ from Chicago has been electrifying dance floors since the mid-80’s, walking the well-defined lines between House and Hip Hop music. Tone, under the moniker Ynot, produced Common’s first 3 albums and to this day is the musical director and DJ for the hip hop great. He’s spun at APT and had a weekly gig at Santos Party House, and now he brings his diverse tapestry of music both nationally and internationally to Friday night at Ginny’s.

DJ Styff from Struggler’s Movement hails from Guyana and grew up on the streets of Flatbush in Brooklyn. With over 26 years of experience moving big crowds with his huge collection of music, there’s no better place to hear him spin than Wednesday night at Ginny’s. He’s mastered the soulful reggae beats from the 70s to the 90s and his knowledge and skill has him in demand all over the world. You won’t want to miss this set.

Born in South Carolina and bred in New York, Georgia has been singing her whole life. She developed her skills as a jazz and pop vocalist, leading to her winning the legendary Amateur Night at the Apollo Talent show. As a professional vocalist, she has been cast as a vocalist in the Broadway hits “Eubie” and “Bubbling Brown Sugar.” Starring in “An Evening at the Cotton Club” as Bessie Smith, Georgia toured throughout Europe entertaining audiences with high-energy performances of jazz, blues and gospel tunes. Georgia, winner of the Blues Hall of Fame award, has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, George Benson, Fathead Newman, KoKo Taylor and Stanley Turrentine, and now she performs with our own  this Sunday, May 27th at Ginny’s. As described in Ralph Cooper’s book, she is “The Last of the Red Hot Mama’s”!

Rakiem Walker Project Brings Monday Mayhem to Ginny’s

Monday Nights Red Rooster Harlem and Ginny’s are home to the 7-piece Rakiem Walker Project, who take audiences through a rich stylistic journey of African-American music. From gospel to hip-hop, Cannonball Adderly to Jay-Z, this band takes no prisoners as history is its groove. The group features a roster of talented musicians, including the well-known street saxophonist Rakiem Walker, who has been the musical director for several projects including the MTV-sponsored Blusyde,and pianist and hip-hop producer Enterfied “The God of Sound” McCloud, whose credentials include touring with and producing Erykah Badu, Bilal, the Game, and Jadakiss. Also prominent in this group is the young vocalist Latoya Kennedy, whose sultry voice overlays and blends the instrumentation perfectly. With three horns, a rhythm section, and a talented voice in their arsenal, this group’s rich sound and diverse set of music, captivates audiences on Mondays, promising an uplifting start to each week.

This incredible American vocalist needs no introduction: The legendary JIMMY SCOTT descends upon Ginny’s for a special three-night engagement on June 8th and June 9th (all shows at 8pm). Ginny’s Supper Club is honored to host “Little” Jimmy Scott as he performs hits from his 70-year career as a prominent player in music history.

Having performed with Charlie Parker, Sarah Vaughan, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, and Lester Young, JIMMY SCOTT is also a favorite of contemporary talents like Lou Reed, Elton John, Madonna and Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Who can forget his singing of “Why Was I Born” during President Bill Clinton’s 1993 inauguration? Ginny’s is proud to be able to showcase this 86-year-old maestro and you’re invited to spend a wonderful evening at our Supper Club with great cocktails, spectacular food and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. A special menu will be created for this legendary night so we encourage you to come enjoy the night with us.
