This week’s Harlem Photo of the Week is of one of our neighborhood’s greatest prides- the Harlem Children’s Zone. In this photo, Chef Andrew Benson poses with a couple of the students from HCZ’s Promise Academy on 125th Street. The students are showing off vegetables that were grown in their own garden on the roof of the Promise Academy.

The HCZ’s mission is to end generational poverty in Harlem by educating kids and adults and providing them with skills to help them succeed in education and their future careers. They also educate families on preventing and treating health issues like obesity, diabetes, and asthma. We’re proud to have the Harlem Children’s Zone as a leader of change and education in our community.
