Summer is all about relaxing and taking the time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures – like great food! There’s no shortage of fun food-related events happening all over the country this summer in honor of local traditions, culture, and seasonal eats. Here’s a list of six of the amazing festivals and celebrations around America that foodies can look forward to this year.

The California Wine Festival – July 13-16 in Santa Barbara, CA
A three-day outdoor event that’s tailored to industry professionals and wine-lovers alike, the California Wine Festival celebrates California-made wines and invites guests to sample tastings right on the beach – shirt and shoes required, however.

Oregon Brewers Festival – July 28-31 in Portland, OR
If you’re a craft beer lover, check out this fest on the banks of the Willamette River in Portland. The event features 85 handcrafted beers from breweries all over the United States and is one of the longest-running craft beer festivals in the country, including Deschutes Brewery, which offers free tours for beer-lovers who want to expand their trip to Oregon.

Vermont’s Deerfield Valley Blueberry Festival – July 29-Aug 7 in Mount Snow Valley, VT
Spend a weekend in New England picking your own blueberries, drinking blue beer, eating blueberry baked goods, and partaking in a variety of blueberry-themed events at Vermont’s quirky, small-town festival in honor of this delicious summer fruit.

Bluegrass and Beer Festival – Aug 6-7 in Keystone, CO
The perfect summer combo of music and beer is the focus of this Colorado event. Enjoy a variety of Bluegrass bands and sample beer from more than 40 microbreweries, most of them locally based in Colorado. There’s even a beer garden!

National Hamburger Festival – August 20-21 in Akron, OH
For just $5, you’re granted admission to this outdoor Ohio venue featuring one of the largest assortments of burgers you could ever imagine. There’s a best burger contest, the annual Ohio Burger Eating Championship, and, of course, a huge variety of burgers at your disposal for liberal sampling.

Missouri State Championship BBQ Contest – Sept 16-17 in Springfield, MO
Finish out the summer with the Summer Sizzle, an annual barbecue event featuring a massive barbecue championship and free sampling for attendees. Listen to live music from all over the Ozarks while you chow down on the unofficial food of summer: barbecue!
