A delicious alternative to coffee, green tea has many health benefits that make it worth drinking. Studies have claimed that green tea fights cancer and heart disease, and although not extensively researched, green tea has also been associated with lowering cholesterol, burning fat, and preventing diabetes.
Additionally, green tea has a high level of antioxidants. While the research is ongoing as to how much of the specific antioxidants in green tea are available to the body, the studies point to evident benefits from drinking two cups a day. Green tea is minimally processed compared to black tea and oolong tea. It has a delicious herbaceous flavor with woody notes.
Green tea may take a bit of getting used to if you haven’t grown up drinking it. To ease into it, try some of the flavored versions that gain extra vitality from ingredients like dried orange peel or spices. If you’re completely opposed to drinking green tea, many ingredients-dark chocolate, berries, and red wine, to name a few-are packed with antioxidants, too.
