National Doughnut Day

Today is National Doughnut Day! Celebrated on the first Friday in June every year since 1938, National Doughnut Day is a perfect excuse to enjoy a sweet, fluffy treat – or two, or three.

Celebrate the holiday at Red Rooster with our delicious sweet potato doughnuts, injected with sweet potato cream and served warm with a dusting of cinnamon sugar.

Not in NYC to enjoy? Try one of these famed doughnut shops around the country!

VooDoo Donuts in Portland, OR: VooDoo is famous for its wacky flavor combinations, like the Captain my Captain (a yeast doughnut with vanilla frosting and Captain Crunch on top) and the Bacon Maple Bar (a long doughnut with maple frosting and bacon on top). They also have a large selection of vegan doughnuts. Shops are open 24 hours, 7 days a week, and you can even get married by an ordained VooDoo minister at one of their three locations!

Stan’s Donuts in Los Angeles, CA: Stan’s has been around since 1963 and takes pride in stuffing its doughnuts with some really yummy fillings. They’re known for their “World Famous Peanut Butter Donuts”, which include the Reese’s Peanut Butter Pocket and another stuffed with peanut butter, fresh banana, and chocolate chips. Their doughnuts are also available to order from anywhere in the national via FedEx.

Kane’s Donuts in Boston, MA: Located in Saugus, just outside of the city, Kane’s has provided classic doughnuts to the Boston area since 1955. Try one of their Boston Cremes, the Honey Dipped, or the Old-Fashioned plain, all New England favorites. You can also order from home and have your doughnuts delivered.

The fritters as well as the rest of their donuts are notoriously huge, so share one at this classic Midwest establishment, where you can watch more doughnuts being made while you eat.
