Ways To Stop Eating Junk Food

If you find yourself always thinking about the next snack, it might be time to turn to Women’s Health’s 7 suggestions for curbing those cravings.

Instead of choosing junk food, you’ll find it easier to keep to your diet-related goals if you rethink the frame of time.  Instead of focusing on a six-month plan, rethink the time frame to give context to an indulgence.

Often diets are goal-oriented for cosmetic reasons, but if you extrapolate the desire to slim down to overall better health, you may find additional benefits from eating healthfully.  Keep a diary, Women’s Health suggests, to monitor acne, headaches, cramps, and the like, and you might find that forgoing that jelly donut does good to your entire body.

Additional suggestions include:

*Move on after a mistake: one diet slip-up is not the end of the world, forgive yourself, and keep on track.

*Eat Breakfast! Here are a few delicious ways to start the day right: Banana Smoothie, Granola, or a protein-packed Breakfast Burrito.

*Be prepared: When a craving hits, you need your kitchen to offer healthy alternatives to a donut or bag of chips.  Stock your kitchen with healthy foods.  It’s important to keep your fridge and cupboard stocked with healthy snacks and ingredients.

*Stay away from faux-health foods: Even foods in the “healthy” section of the grocery store can be laden with sugar.  “Evaporated cane juice” is just sugar, after all.  Stick to whole foods for balanced, filling, and healthy meals.

*Switch your space: often if you’re craving something sweet, but imagining a hearty meal doesn’t inspire hunger, it could be boredom that’s driving your craving.  Get up, move around and try a change of pace to crush cravings.
