After a dreary, rainy week, I am looking forward to relaxing in front of the television with an engaging movie and a bowl of my spicy dill popcorn. I scanned my DVD collection and settled on the cult classic, “American Beauty”. I know that I can count on this film to keep me fully entertained with its mix of dark comedy and drama.
Since no movie night would be complete without a cocktail, I was thrilled to find a recipe for a beverage of the same name. This unique blend provides a similar thrill as the movie with its sassy grenadine and theatrical presentation. My crunchy snack is also a parallel mix of kicked up seasoning and cool herbs.
- Ice Cubes
- 1 oz brandy
- 1/2 oz dry vermouth
- 1/4 tsp white creme de mint
- 1 oz orange juice
- 1 tsp grenadine syrup
- 1/2 oz tawny port
1. Fill a shaker halfway up with ice cubes.
2. Add brandy, vermouth, creme de mint, orange juice, and grenadine syrup. Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail/martini glass.
3. Carefully top the drink with a layer of tawny port, making sure that it drifts along the top rather than mixing in completely.
