I get so excited every time I think of the way Red Rooster is coming together. This whole process has opened me up to learning more about the history of the original Red Rooster, which was located a bit further uptown in Harlem. Just last week, a nice gentlemen named Grant sent me photos of his grandmother who was a bar maid at the Rooster and shared this photo of her below circa the 1950s, seated with Adam Clayton Powell Jr.
If you have any old Rooster photos or memories to share, we’d love to see them. Please send to firstname.lastname@example.org
