I sat down with singer Angelique Kidjo to discuss cooking and food recently at the Red Rooster.  I love her passion and spirit.  She brings her vibrant energy to her music and to her position as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.  Her songs are so beautiful, and the rhythm you hear in her music also translates to her presence in kitchen.  I loved this recent Edible Brooklyn interview with Angelique.  She has been cooking since she was 8 years old in Benin.  She even brings a special paste back to her Brooklyn home to cook her favorite African foods.

As the spokesman for the UNICEF TAP initiative, I love that Angelique cares and understands how precious water is.  She said, “One problem that is gonna hit us hard is that we are gonna come to a shortage of water. Will we share this natural resource? We have to find long-term solutions not only profitable for one group of people, but for the whole. That’s the only way we can achieve peace.”  She is a role model for us all!
