Weekly Dish Recommendation: Tarte Flambe at August (New York)

By mahir | November 16, 2010

If you have family and friends in the city for the upcoming holidays, I suggest taking stroll through the quaint West Village of Manhattan for a great meal at August.  The space is warm and inviting, perfect for a fall dinner.

The Tarte Flambe is a must-eat.  As the days are getting shorter, and temperature drops I recommend this free-from tart from the Alsace region of France. Traditionally made with raw onions, this bacon-topped bread is enhanced with carmelized onions that almost melt in your mouth.  Dollops of creme fraiche complements the salty onions and bacon.  This wood fired starter will ensure a delightful meal!

Weekly Dish Recommendation: Slow Roasted Suckling Pig at August (New York)

By admin | November 2, 2010

After a day of strolling and shopping in the West Village, you must stop by August on Bleecker Street for the Slow Roasted Suckling Pig. The meat itself is amazing, absolutely tender, but the seasonal sides are what make this dish a hit – winter squash, brussel sprouts, horseradish and cider jus. Be sure to check out August’s menu every season, as it changes.
