The sun is out and we’re running around to make sure everything is perfect to kick off our Harlem Day Community Event. It’s a big week around here and the excitement is infectious. Our Red Rooster chefs are heading over to the farmer’s market to pick up fresh foods for our cooking demos, DJ Qool Marv is tuning up his turntables, the kids are stretching for the yoga demos, and we’re bringing by our superstar bartender Lon to make up some mocktails. There’ll be dancing and music and expect fun giveaways and treats for everyone!

It was very important to me that we celebrate the launch of Yes, Chef with my Harlem community first, the day before my memoir goes on sale. The families and neighbors around Red Rooster Harlem and Ginny’s are the ones who make this journey worth it and I want to share this day with them.  Read More


CNN Eatocracy’s Secret Supper at Red Rooster Harlem

Last night, Red Rooster Harlem was the host of the fourth edition of CNN’s Eatocracy Secret Supper. The Secret Supper was an opportunity to hold a conversation with guests and fellow chefs about food and cultural identity, a subject that is incredibly important to me as a chef. Together with Chef Suvir Saran and Chef George Mendes, we created a meal that expressed our own cultural identities and inspired a brilliant discussion about how food shapes who we are. Read More
