The SOBE Wine and Food Festival is current underway, down in Florida’s Miami Beach area.  Supported by sponsorships from The Food Network, Food and Wine Magazine, and American Express, among other companies, this four-day event  (Thursday through Sunday, February 23-26) promises to be a gastronomical extravaganza, catering to culinary enthusiasts and wine connoisseurs alike.  While many events, such as The Flavors of Flay presented by Certified Angus Beef–a thorough sampling of Chef Bobby Flay’s restaurant empire–are sold out, you can still score tickets to numerous SOBE Wine and Food festival events.

Save the date and work up your appetite for The New York City Vegetarian Food Festival held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan on Saturday and Sunday, March 3^rd and 4^th from 10 AM to 6PM. This event will be an incredible way to celebrate the delight of vegetarian cuisine and cruelty-free living in NYC. Event coordinators say, “There will be world-class speakers, live music, and fun food contests throughout the day in addition to the vast array of vegan food samples.”

This highly anticipated festival is now a two-day celebration and will feature food sampling and meals from New York City’s top vegetarian restaurants and food companies, health and wellness vendors, vegetarian/animal welfare information tables, and live entertainment and activities throughout the weekend. The coolest events during the New York Wine and Food Fest that I got to participate in were, hands down, the cooking demonstrations for kids. I was lucky enough to do two this year and the first one was Fun and Fit in the City, sponsored by Target. It was held Saturday afternoon in my neighborhood of Harlem. On Saturday, I had the pleasure of participating in a unique panel discussion for the New York Wine and Food Festival. Hosted by Food & Wine Magazine, Editor-In-Chief Dana Cowin arranged for me and two of the most talented men in the food world, Mario Batali and Andrew Zimmern, to engage the audience in a conversation about what constitutes, as well as how to create, the ultimate restaurant experience. It was truly great to sit and chat with Dana, Andrew, and Mario. I’m having an amazing time at the New York Food and Wine festival so far this week.  From meeting culinary luminaries to last night’s event at Red Rooster in celebration of local farmers and culinary artisans-the festival has been a whirlwind of excitement and energy, and it’s just getting started!
