Topics discussed will include their take on how our galleries and institutions capture artistic communities and history, held in conjunction with MoMA PS1’s exhibition Now Dig This! Art and Black Los Angeles 1960–1980, which will be on display through March 11.
If you haven’t gotten a chance to see the exhibit yet, it’s worth checking out to see this examination of a pioneering group of African-American artists whose individual as well as collaborative talent with other artists helped shape a large part of Southern California’s art scene today. As well as viewing at least 140 works by over 30 artists, this exhibit also examines the increasing political, social and economic power of African Americans throughout the U.S.
