Happy Hour: The Perfect Negroni

By Ashley Beck | June 21, 2013

Warm weather and a Negroni go hand in hand. It’s always my go-to in the summer months: light and complex, refreshing and robust. And with only 3 ingredients, it’s so absolutely easy to make!  In order to craft it perfect every time, it’s important to measure out the ingredients. And then of course there is the garnish. The aromatics of the orange peel are crucial in bringing the flavors together and making it feel like summer will never end, as long as you’ve got one of these. Have a look: Read More

F. Scott Fitzgerald had an incredible way of describing a party that, let’s face it, just about anybody would want to be invited. The imagery of “buffet tables, garnished with glistening hors d’oeuvres, spiced baked hams crowded against salads of harlequin designs, and pastry pigs and turkeys bewitched to a dark gold..a bar with a real brass rail,  stocked with gins and liquors and with cordials so long forgotten that most of his female guests were too young to know one from another.” Read More

Happy Hour: In the Spirit of Spring

By Ashley Beck | March 29, 2013

Spring is finally making a bit of an appearance, and everywhere I go I see evidence of its much needed arrival. But the definition of happy hour wasn’t always this; it has an interesting history that starts in the Navy. Read More
