The growing Hedley & Bennett team

Learning to tourne carrots and perfect sauces were part of her plan, but little did she know that she would soon be sitting atop a burgeoning business that counts chefs David Chang, Jonathan Waxman, Vinny Dotolo, April Bloomfield, Tyler Florence, and Marcus as some of her biggest fans. And that’s just a start of the names that adore the 25-year-old’s Hedley & Bennett Apron collection. Read More

Hooni Kim was set to be a doctor when his obsession and passion for food took over his medical studies as an undergrad at University of California at Berkeley. The NYC native packed up his books and headed back East to enroll at the French Culinary Institute. Born in Seoul, Korea, Hooni moved to NYC at the age of 10 and it’s where he decided to set his roots by opening Danji in Hell’s Kitchen and more recently, Hanjan, in the Flatiron District. Following graduation, Hooni did rigorous stints in the kitchen at Daniel and Masa, two three-star Michelin restaurants, where he learned to perfect his technique and style. But he couldn’t leave his Korean roots for long… Read More

Queen Silvia greets the press line at Red Rooster.

“My mom called me this morning to tell me everything that could go wrong. She just knows what a big deal this is for me.”

The mood at Red Rooster on Wednesday morning was equal parts excitement and frenetic energy as the team got ready for the arrival of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden. Marcus’s nerves were no exception–the dry cleaner didn’t have his favorite shirt ready and it was pouring rain outside. But as they say, the Queen waits for no one and so everyone had to be on point for the royal luncheon. Read More

So happy for food in Korea…Excited Gangnam style!

Born in Taiwan and raised in Australia, Ray Chen was accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music at the age of 15, where he studied with Aaron Rosand. Playing with the 1702 “Lord Newlands” Stradivarius violin on generous loan from the Nippon Music Foundation, 23-year old Ray Chen is among the most compelling young violinists today. Outdoor dinner in Austin

Perusing through the pages of a Kinfolk Magazine will transport you to a rustic fairytale of endless summer picnics that taste of freshly bottled honey, warm bread with jam placed upon long wooden family tables that seat up to twenty of your closest hungry friends. Getting swept up in the tranquility of it all is easy, and is precisely what founder Nathan Williams had in mind when he and a group of friends developed their exquisitely designed communal gatherings. We were able to snag a few precious moments with Williams to further explore the manifesto behind Kinfolk and why, more than ever, sharing good food, time and laughter with friends and family is a necessary life fulfillment.
