Last month, Ralph Lauren Polo included me in their Explore Polo Instagram series, “The Polo RL Survival Guide.” Shot entirely from an iPhone, the video series showed off their Fall collection highlighted through a rustic camping trip taken by the Polo Explorer. I leant a recipe and a few cooking tips for the day and was pleased to see the results.

Here’s a behind the scenes look at how the day went.

We hosted chefs Jonathan Waxman and Pete Evans at Ginny’s this Spring for Fine Cooking’s Moveable Feast, a much welcomed opportunity to highlight the Harlem Farmers Market as well as Chef Waxman and Marcus’s favorite recipes. Gathering an illustrious group of food journalists and friends–Adam Sachs, Kate Krader, Veronica Chambers, Sidra Smith, Rebekah Maysles, and Bevy Smith, to name a few–we all sat down to enjoy the Barbuto chef/owner’s famous Gnocchi with Spring Vegetables (the trick is to freeze them!) and Lamb Chops with a kale and fingerling potato salad. Over on the Red Rooster side, Marcus whipped up Twice Fried Yardbird, showing Pete how to flavor the oil, and a Pickled Trout with root vegetables. Check out the entire episode here. Read More

CNN series Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown will present a live, one-hour retrospective episode, Parts Unknown Last Bite, airing from Las Vegas this Sunday November 10 at 10pm ET, following the Season Two finale of the series, “Detroit.”

Marcus will join Treme/The Wire start Wendell Pierce, author of “LA Son” and Kogi Truck chef/owner Roy Choi, comedian Bonnie McFarlane and CNN anchor Don Lemon from the historic Las Vegas locale Atomic Liquors (a former package store and café where patrons would watch nuclear test blasts from the roof).

Parts Unknown Last Bite will feature highlights from the past season and feature a lively debate among the guests on subjects such as food sustainability and guns in America – topics that were raised in various episodes of season two.

Hope you’ll tune in!

VIDEO: “Yes, Chef” B-Sides on Harlem Style

By MarcusSamuelsson.com | April 9, 2013

yes, Chef

Having lived in Harlem for over 10 years, I’ve seen the changes that have descended upon this neighborhood. Stores have gone up, and Lenox Lounge has come down. Restaurants have been pushed out and boutiques have thrived. Where there are complaints of gentrification, there’s a fierce  attitude to hold on to the history. But always and forever, Harlem is always about style. Check out the latest video for “Yes, Chef” B-Sides, taped at Harlem Haberdashery.  Read More
