Ambessa Tea Stories: Tea For Your Face

By Ashley Beck | February 28, 2013

Sounds a bit weird right? But if you think about it not so much. The benefits we get from tea on the inside can also be benefited from on the outside. And to go further, because our bodies absorb whatever we apply to our skin, it’s best to use products that are made from ingredients that you wouldn’t be afraid to eat. Therefore these tea masks and scrubs are made from 100% natural edible ingredients that will leave your face feeling as good as if it just had a cup of tea.

Benefits of Black Tea: Using black tea in a mask or scrub helps rejuvenate and tighten your skin. If you’re feeling tired, or you feel like your face could use a lift, use black tea, like Ambessa’s Safari Breakfast, to wake your skin right up, and tighten the surface. Just like a cup of black tea can awaken the spirit on the inside, it also works wonders for awakening tired skin.

Benefits of Green Tea: Green tea is great to use if your skin is inflamed or in need of detoxification, and is naturally rich with antioxidants which can protect your skin from free radicals. Using green tea, like Ambessa’s Ligonberry Green Tea will give your face that detox its been looking for, calm irritated skin, and help your skin fight against free radicals that cause aging and disease, not too mention the fresh natural scent of Ligonberry that lingers.

Below are some homemade beauty products that can be made at home:

Rejuvenating Safari Breakfast Mask

1 tea bag
1 tbsp steal cut oats
2 cups water, boiled
2 tsp honey

1. Cut open tea bag of choice and place tea leaves into a small bowl. Cover tea leaves with boiling water, and allow to steep until water is luke warm.

2. When water is warm, add oats, honey, and a bit more warm water, if necessary. Then stir to combine.

3. Apply to face, and leave on for 10-12 minutes. Then rinse with luke warm water until clean, and enjoy the benefits of the tea!

Note: Can be applied to the face 1-2 times a week.

Rejuvenating Safari Breakfast Tea Sugar Scrub

1 Safari Breakfast tea bag
1 tbsp Turbinado Sugar

1. Cut open tea bag of choice and place tea leaves into a small bowl. Cover tea leaves with boiling water, and allow to steep until water has cooled enough so the sugar will not melt.

2. Next, add sugar to water and tea leaf mixture, and combine just until incorporated.

3. Apply to skin, and gently exfoliate in small circular motions for about 5 minutes.

4. Rinse off with warm water, and enjoy the benefits of the tea, and the smoothing effects of the sugar.

Note: Can be applied to the face 2-3 times a week.
